Youth faithfully

Some of our young people have taken part in two celebrations called 'Youth Faithfully' at Grace Dieu this year. These have included scripture readings, song, and silent adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Another feature has been the opportunity for the participants to share their experience of  faith. Temporary Office

The moment has come for the office space in the presbytery to be decorated. Here is a picture of the temporary administrative centre of the parish!

Our Lady of Perpetual Succour

Fr Balfe's notes published in the jubilee edition of St Wilfrid's Word, contain these words:

I have always encouraged devotions to the Eucharist and Our Blessed Lady – we often had hymn practices as part of our Sunday devotions for about five to ten minutes.  In Grimsby we always had a weekly devotion to Our Lady of Perpetual Succour.  I contacted the Redemptorists  in Birmingham and a Father Harris came to preach a novena – our intention was a new church for Coalville. 
This novena was still going on upon my departure from Coalville.  The reason why there is a picture of Our Lady, rather than a statue, is due to her gift to the community of a new church.

As today is the traditional date of the feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, I though it worth reflecting on these words. Of, course, we now have a statue of Our Lady as well as the lovely icon in the Lady Chapel pictured below.

Golden Jubilee Mass

Our Golden Jubilee Mass was a wonderful occasion in every way. Thank you to all involved. Monsignor Dazeley has kindly let me have the text of his homily. Click here to read it.

Jubilee Concert

The concert last Thursday evening was an excellent start to our Jubilee celebrations. It reflected the giftedness and diversity of our parish in a  wonderful way. Thanks to all concerned.

Ordination

I was privileged to be at the ordination of three new priests for the Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham in our Cathedral last evening. Please pray for Fr Simon, Fr David, and Fr Peter
